Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) drug susceptibility testing
NTM (Nontuberculous mycobacteria) refers to Mycobacteria excluding tuberculosis and leprosy, known to cause infections primarily in immunocompromised individuals. Drug susceptibility testing for NTM (Nontuberculous mycobacteria) is a test that examines the susceptibility pattern of isolated non-tuberculous mycobacteria to drugs in patient specimens. This test utilizes liquid medium dilution method, where the standard amount of bacteria is inoculated into media containing drugs used for NTM infection treatment, and growth of bacteria is observed visually to determine susceptibility.
