Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) species identification
In the culture examination, a diagnostic test is employed to determine the precise species of microorganisms identified as NTM (Nontuberculous mycobacteria). This involves targeting the nucleotide sequence of Mycobacteria genetic regions using specific primers (ITS) through PCR amplification, followed by the Line Probe Assay (LPA) method. This method allows for the detection of approximately 70 NTM species, with the capability to differentiate and identify 23 specific NTM species.
