AFB Liquid Culture Test

The liquid culture method detects mycobacteria faster (1-2 weeks) and has a higher positive detection rate compared to solid culture. The KIT uses the MGIT 960 system by BD (USA). This method measures the change in oxygen consumption, which is detected by fluorescence, to confirm the presence of mycobacterial growth.

Method Culture in liquid media (BD MGIT 960 system) is conducted to detect mycobacterial growth. Readings are taken hourly from the liquid culture system.
